The work beneath the surface.
Supporting drainage, kerbs and ground preparation delivered as part of a commercial surfacing package.
Preparation that suits the surface.
These works are offered in support of our surfacing packages rather than as standalone civil engineering.
Ground preparation
Excavation, formation and sub-base preparation ahead of surfacing.
Surface-water drainage
Drainage associated with surfaced areas, including gullies and channels.
Kerbs and edgings
Kerb lines and edge restraints to surfaced areas.
Levels and falls
Levels and falls to the agreed pavement and drainage design.
Hardstandings
Prepared bases for car parks, yards and access routes.
Interfaces
Coordination of drainage and kerb interfaces with the surfacing works.
Define preparation and drainage interfaces.
Identify which works sit within the surfacing package and which remain with the designer, main contractor or other trades.
- Formation and ground-condition information
- Designed finished levels and falls
- Kerb lines and edge restraint details
- Trade boundaries and design responsibilities
What we need to assess the scope.
- Surfacing extent, proposed levels and pavement design.
- Drainage drawings, known outfalls, service information and ground-condition records.
- Kerb details, access requirements, work boundaries and programme.
What needs to be resolved.
- Underground services, excavation restrictions and existing structures.
- Confirm the designer, approved outfall and any discharge or connection consent before drainage works are agreed. Identify who obtains approvals and accepts the design.
- Thresholds, service covers, adjacent trades and surfacing sequence.
Pavement specification depends on loading, ground conditions, drainage and the complete pavement design. Scope, access arrangements and programme need to be agreed for the individual project.
